Luxeon LEDs are among the most powerful LEDs on the market.  This can be both an asset or a hinderance when using them for lighting in a haunt.  LEDs can be bought reletivly cheaply from Lumileds.com.  The brightness of these LEDs is overwhelming.  A single Luxeon I will produce enough light to give a dark room AT LEAST a moon-glow illumination.  Unfortunatly though, it is not recommended to connect these LEDs with the typical in-line resistor.  These LEDs draw a typical current of 350 mA at about 2.85 VDC as opposed to T1 LEDs which typically draw between 20 mA and 70 mA.  This equates to 1 watt of power (hence why these are refered to as a Luxeon I.  Others are similarly named as Luxeon III and Luxeon VI).  The holy-grail of LED lighting is to be able to produce a cheap, flexible power supply capable of driving these LEDs efficiently and safely.  Although I do not claim to own the holy-grail, I do have a cheap knockoff for the taking along with sources for commercial drivers on the Luxeon Drivers page.
